Asterix Volume 5: Asterix and the Banquet

Asterix and the Banquet is volume 5 of the classic comic series created by René Goscinny and illustrated by Albert Uderzo. Asterix and Obelix set off on a journey across Gaul, encountering local food, different customs and Roman patrols along the way. The trip turns into an entertaining tour of the country as the two friends find ways to keep moving despite repeated attempts to stop them.

The adventure combines travel, slapstick and the series’ affectionate humour about local traditions. Each stop brings a new setting and a new opportunity for the Gauls to outwit their Roman opponents, while the varied episodes keep the story lively. Uderzo’s detailed illustrations and the character-driven comedy reward readers who enjoy visual jokes as much as the plot.

This English-language paperback is volume 5 of the Asterix series. It may suit readers discovering classic European comics, families reading illustrated adventures together and fans who want to add an early volume to their collection.
