Asterix Volume 12: Asterix at the Olympic Games

Asterix at the Olympic Games is volume 12 of the classic Asterix comic series by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. Asterix and Obelix travel to ancient Greece, where the Olympic Games create an opportunity for the Gauls to test themselves against Roman competitors. The rules of the contest bring an unexpected challenge to their usual approach to defeating Rome.

The book combines sporting competition with the series’ familiar satire, lively dialogue and visual comedy. Its jokes grow from the contrast between the ideals of fair play and the characters’ very different ideas about strength, strategy and the magic potion. The ancient setting also gives Uderzo plenty of detail to bring the games and their participants to life.

This English-language paperback is volume 12 of the Asterix series, published by Hachette India. It may appeal to readers of classic comics, families sharing illustrated adventures and fans building a collection of individual Asterix volumes.
